NEWS - Avon Protection Sponsor Solo Unsupported Row Across North Atlantic Ocean
Date: 01 January 0001
Congratulations to former Royal Marine, David ‘Dinger’ Bell, on his unsupported North Atlantic Ocean row from New York, US to Cornwall, UK. This is believed to be first mainland to mainland, single man, unsupported row across the Atlantic.
Dinger joined the Royal Marines in 1991 and served 20 years conducting operational deployments around the world. Having first set his sights on the challenge in 1997, Dinger launched on 31st May 2021 from Liberty Land Marina in the United States. After 119 days of rowing, he reached his destination, arriving at Newlyn Harbour, UK on Sunday 26th September 2021.
Avon Protection are proud to have sponsored Dinger's efforts and donated towards the cost of his watermaker, a key piece of equipment needed to convert the ocean’s salt water into drinkable water.
Since September 2020, Dinger has raised over £34,000 with 100% of donations going to the SBS Association and Rock 2 Recovery UK. To find out more about Dinger’s amazing voyage visit his website or Instagram page.
